Pręcis Ce OEM Time and Frequency Engine
"Indirect GPS" eliminates the rooftop antenna |
 |
The Pręcis Ce can replace a GPS time receiver in many applications. This OEM
board provides a 1 PPS signal which is synchronized to UTC at the 10-microsecond
level of accuracy, an ASCII time-of-day message over the RS-232 serial I/O port,
and an optional 10 MPPS signal which is locked to the frequency of UTC to parts
in 10 to the 12th. Features include:
- No rooftop antenna required.
- Highly stable, comparable to direct GPS.
- Better than 1x10-11 long-term frequency accuracy.
- 1 PPS output.
- RS-232 serial port with ASCII time-of-day output.
- Optional 10 MPPS output with TCXO/OCXO.
- Optional CDMA Preamplifier for poor signal environments.
- One-year warranty and free software upgrades for life.
- Small size, low power.
The Antenna
Advantage All GPS-based time & frequency standards require an
antenna that must be installed with good sky visibility. Obtaining rooftop
access can be extremely difficult and cost prohibitive. This is often one of
the largest problems facing synchronization equipment users. The Pręcis Ce
eliminates this problem by using an "indirect" form of GPS, where the CDMA
wireless communications base stations effectively act as GPS repeaters. Pręcis
Ce can receive signals broadcast from these CDMA base stations inside buildings
using a small cellular antenna. This module then uses these signals to
synchronize its time and frequency to within 10 microseconds of UTC. You benefit by not having to install a rooftop
antenna and still having a timing reference that is as stable as with GPS.
